MILESTONE 2:
MONORAIL MOMENT
Dr. Charles Schroeder, founder of the San Diego Zoo Safari Park, always dreamed of bringing people closer to nature. To achieve that goal, he envisioned a monorail system that would take guests around the savanna habitats, offering an up-close and personal view one might experience on safari in Africa. Known for being a mover and shaker, Dr. Schroeder took it upon himself to hammer in some of the first stakes, officially kicking off monorail construction at the Park.
