MILESTONE 26
HEART OF AFRICA
In 1997, the San Diego Zoo Safari Park reached a major milestone: its 25th anniversary. To celebrate, a new complex of habitats opened called the Heart of Africa, which treated guests to a walking journey with a winding pathway through dry forest and thorn scrub habitats—home to white-back vultures, okapi, eland, blesbok, warthogs, hornbills, bat-eared foxes, and secretary birds.
