For the mountain yellow-legged frog, time was running out. Severe population fragmentation led to fewer than 200 individuals remaining in their native habitats. San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance researchers stepped in to save a threatened group of these frogs in the San Bernardino Mountains, establishing a conservation research and breeding program to save the species from extinction.
