OPENING DAY
The San Diego Zoo Safari Park, formerly known as the Wild Animal Park, opened to the public on May 10, 1972, to much celebration and acclaim. There were 973 individual animals representing 150 animal species at the Park, and 3,000 people came through the gates on the first day.
